Exporting data for use in mapping software

Hello all,

I apologize if this posting appears in the wrong section--please point me in the right direction if this is the case.

Right now I'm running FM Pro 6, but will be upgrading soon to version 7 or 8.

My goal is to use Filemaker Pro to graphically display geographic data based on parameters set in Filemaker. This will be used to plan national tours for musicians, and I will be using existing information in my database, such as venue size, venue type, and location. Ideally, this will enable me to look at a map displaying all the venues that fit my criteria and plan routings accordingly.

An associate of mine has done something similar on a PC (exporting Filemaker data into MS Streets & Trips), but with limited success. I assume it's possible on a Mac, I just don't know exactly how to go about it...

Questions:

1. Is there a way to have the maps show up in Filemaker or is exporting data into another program the better option? (keeping in mind that I have no programming skills)

2. Would it be more efficient to use a webviewer and link to GoogleMaps/Mapquest or to use a program such as Route USA?

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

-Andrew
