Hi everyone,

I am a beginner in FM (using FM Pro 6) and have troubles customizing even though I have went through the help files and book. Hope someone can help me on this problem I have.

I have 2 fields; Field A and Field B. Field A is linked to a value list. However, my problem is that I want it customized in such a way that when I select an item from Field A, if would reflect a value list of my choice in Field B.

e.g.

When I select "Furniture" from the drop down menu of Field A, I would want to see a list of furniture (already created a value list for it). Likewise, when I select "Hardware" from the drop down menu of Field A, I would want to see a list of hardware.

Hope you all can understand what I am explaining here, and really hope I can obtain help from the FM gurus.

TIA. ???

Welcome to the list,

You will need to explore creating a value list from a field and only showing related data.

I have attached two basic files. Look at the relationship between the two files and the way that value lists are generated. The ValueListTest file gets it's value list from the ValuListTextCategories file and there is a relationship between the categories field that is used to create a value list of just those category items.

See if this gets you on the right track.
