Printing an invoice

Featured Replies

Hi,

Invoices that I need to print may have one or much more line items. However, when having only one line, I would like lines ( as illustration B ) being printed to the bottom of the page (as if there were empty lines) so the the footer doesn't stick to the only line of the order ( illustration A ).

One solution could be to print a portal from the Orders table, but how can I know then how many pages will be needed?

Many thanks for your help, Guy

Guy:

There's a trick to do this which involves putting boxes (which will form your gridlines) in the footer of the layout. All they have to do is overlap the footer by a pixel and extend upward into the body and they will do what you're after. It takes lots of tweaking. I found it here on the forums (I think) and if I remember right the search term was "Conditional Footers" or "Conditional Headers". It was a FileMaker 5/6 trick, so I don't know how it will work in 7/8.

There's a link to a demo file regarding this topic here (the link is buried in the text on the first page):)
