Newbies itsgoddess Posted October 5, 2000 Newbies Posted October 5, 2000 Basically, I want to know if it's possible to put more than one password on a single document, not several duplicates of the same document. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Vaughan Posted December 1, 2000 Posted December 1, 2000 Well, it's difficult to restrict access to "different portions." Passwords can restrict record creation, edit and delete privileges; a users ability to change the databse's structure (change layouts scripts and field definitions); and in combination with FileMaker Pro's GROUPS feature, restrictions can be made to which layouts the user can access. Passwords cannot directly be used to restrict users to certain records in a database -- a question often asked on the Forums. It can be done, but there is "some assembly" by the developer required -- a lot, actually -- to make it happen, involving passwords, layouts and scripts.
