raingirl Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) When users access the server remotely over the internet, does anything get encrypted? (ie, LDAP passwords, internal passwords, data). Using Server 8 Advanced Edited August 16, 2006 by Guest
raingirl Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 This question is specifically about remote access to databases, not IWP or CWP.
Mikhail Edoshin Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 It depends on what is set in the server control panel. There must be a checkbox "Secure connections to FileMaker Server". By default it's off.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Passwords are encrypted. There is no such concept in FileMaker Server as LDAP passwords. Perhaps you mean External Server Authentication? In that case the method of sending passwords--if any are actually sent--depends on the OS of the server, of the Directory Server, and of the workstation. If the option is selected in the SAT Tool data in transit are also encrypted when accessed from FIleMaker Pro clients. Web clients using SSL are encrypted from the browser to the Web Server and from the database server to the W{E. The channel from the WPE to the Web Server is noit encrypted and must be otherwise protected.
