Including fields from a portal in a main record calculation

Hi All

I am trying to make searching easier for my users, so have included a calculation field in my record that just concatenates all text entries for a given record to allow users to just type one query in one box and search against all the fields in that table.

However, I have had to expand the database to include a second related table that is viewed as a portal from the main record. Does anyone know of a way that I can include the data from the related records in the portal to the concatenated calculation field?

Hope this makes sense - feel free to ask questions if it doesn't...

Thanks in advance

yoshi

Well it isn't the best way, you lighly touches the syncronization issue by having two versions of the same data, since you for this post have fm8 avaliable should GTRR(FS) be used for the purpose, while you on earlier versions needed something like this:

In essense is it the same, but fm8 rocks here!!

Thanks for the pointer - sometimes all you need is a fresh set of eyes on a problem...
