Starting a Script via Field Change

I have a field where the user changes it based on what market they want to see.

I want a script to run everytime the market changes.

How do I get the script to run based on the field change?

Use a plug in like EventScript, or look for ways to use relationships to achieve the end result (e.g., create a portal using the current value of the select field to display only active related records).
