FM 8.5 and AOL default email

Just downloaded FM 8.5 and I was hoping that I could use it in conjunction with my AOL 9.0 Security Edition email...but I'm having problems. I understand that FM recommends Outlook and so forth, but surely someone has figured a way to make it work with AOL. Any help would be appreciated.
