Newbies Yasmeen06 Posted September 29, 2006 Newbies Posted September 29, 2006 Hi everyone, I am a beginner to Filemaker. I am creating a database for writers that contribute to our magazine. For example we currently have published 8 issues. And a writer may have contributed to 1, 3 or all 8. For each Issue I need to include the following info: 1. Issue Number 2. Article Name 3. Payment Amount How can I have multiple listings for each writer in the database? So that its list all of his/her informationlisted above for every issue they contribute to on their page. And after I have created the listings. How can I search for example for all writers who may have written in Issue 1, 2, 8, solely, etc. I really appreciate some help- I’m at my wits end. Many Thanks Yasmeen
Genx Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 You need to construct a related database (this sounds so much like an assigment i did in high school ). Can only recommend that you read some whitepapers on general relational database theory and then come back and answer the same question -- though someone else may answer your question, i recommend you read a couple especially the "filemaker whitepaper for novices".. search it on google. Everything will make much more sense, much quicker if you have a general grasp of the theory of whats going on.
Newbies Yasmeen06 Posted September 29, 2006 Author Newbies Posted September 29, 2006 thanks for the adive... im going to lookup the whitepapers. -Yasmeen
