Hi everyone,

I am a beginner to Filemaker. I am creating a database for writers that contribute to our magazine.

For example we currently have published 8 issues. And a writer may have contributed to 1, 3 or all 8.

For each Issue I need to include the following info:

1. Issue Number

2. Article Name

3. Payment Amount

How can I have multiple listings for each writer in the database? So that its list all of his/her informationlisted above for every issue they contribute to on their page.

And after I have created the listings. How can I search for example for all writers who may have written in Issue 1, 2, 8, solely, etc.

I really appreciate some help- I’m at my wits end.

Many Thanks

Yasmeen

You need to construct a related database (this sounds so much like an assigment i did in high school :D ). Can only recommend that you read some whitepapers on general relational database theory and then come back and answer the same question -- though someone else may answer your question, i recommend you read a couple especially the "filemaker whitepaper for novices".. search it on google.

Everything will make much more sense, much quicker if you have a general grasp of the theory of whats going on.
