Silvertop Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 (edited) I would like to put a script on a button to allow users to back up the file(s) they are working on. I have no idea where to begin, I have tried searching with no success. If any kind soul could put up an example/sample script I will be very grateful Thanks John Edited October 11, 2006 by Guest
T-Square Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 FM Help includes an example backup script. Search "Example Backup Script" and follow those directions. Enhancements on this process revolve mostly around naming the backup file and specifying the backup location. The example script simply uses "Backup Copy" as the file name. Silvertop Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 Thanks David. I will check these out (though still amazed that FM does not provide PROPER Backup support)
T-Square Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 What do you mean by "PROPER Backup support"? In my mind, backups are a function of the OS (and hence outside the responsibility of the DBMS). Perhaps you want an export feature? But FM has that capability. It's no "mysqldump", but it is there... David
Silvertop Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) For a DB as mature as FM, I am a wee bit surprised that it does not appear to have the ability to do things like scheduled backups etc., (bearing in mind that all DB's should be backed up regularly). I'm sure in large corporate environments there are other ways to do it. BTY, The FM help example would appear to overwrite itself, which is not ideal. John Edited October 19, 2006 by Guest
