The relationships graph (RG) is a controversial feature of ''new'' FileMaker (version 7.0 or higher). Even experienced FileMaker developers took a while to get accustomed to the RG and settle into systematic ways of using it. The initial reaction of many was, ''Where is my relationship list?'' A few developers never get past this loss and either quietly pine for the older relationship scheme, lobby FileMaker, Inc. for a major revision of the RG or, in extreme cases, avoid new FileMaker altogether.

In this meeting, Michael Harris, Senior Partner, Cerne Systems Inc., and Chair, DIGFM, shows a scheme for bringing the RG, its set up and management, into browse mode. The result is radically simplified RGs, the return of text-list views (greatly enhanced) and much more power and ''granularity'' of customization and user preferences. In his scheme, relationship paths are stored in an ordinary FileMaker table so that the full power of FileMaker as a database is brought to bear on its own relationships management.

Mike is asking the audience to contribute to the testing and refinement of his technique, as he believes it may take a year or so to fully determine the real-world usefulness of the approach and how often developers might use it in place of established RG schemes like ''anchor-buoy''. Attendees may find it helpful to read or review Mike's white paper, (download from DIGFM.org home page) since he is using vocabulary and concepts explained in that paper.

Also, during this meeting, Mike demonstrates a 3-D viewing technology that uses nothing more than color differences and inexpensive 3-D glasses. To celebrate this event, popcorn will be served.

This is an awesome opportunity for you to meet Mr. Harris in person, a well-known FileMaker personality. Don't miss it!
