kjanisse Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Hi all, I am just finishing up a system that I upgraded from v6 to v8. I am testing logins right now. When I login with a non-admin account, the database goes into kiosk mode. BUT I never ran developer tools on it and never activated kiosk mode! As a test, I took the original v6 file and updated it to v8. This seems to cause the problem. This is a major bug! If I create a v8 file from scratch, this problem does not occur. Any ideas?
Steven H. Blackwell Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Make a second file from scratch in FMP 6 and then convert it to see if the same thing happens. I suspect problems with your FMP 6 file. Steven
kjanisse Posted December 1, 2006 Author Posted December 1, 2006 Hi Steven, Thanks for your reply. I did the test as you suggested and it was fine. So it looks like my v6 file is at fault. The problem now is, what can I do? My understanding is that there is no way of removing the Kiosk mode once it is activated (even though I didn't). I appreciate your help. Ken
Steven H. Blackwell Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 For its activation kiosk mode depends on the settings in the Privilege Set. Tinker with those some or possibly delete and rebuild them to see if that works. Steven
kjanisse Posted December 1, 2006 Author Posted December 1, 2006 Thanks for the help Steven! I played with the privilege sets as you suggested and I was able to prevent it from going into kiosk mode. I set the privilege to allow modification of value lists and set menu access to editing only. That did the trick. I am still going to recreate the file from scratch at some point and bring all the elements back in from the offending file. Thanks again for you help! Ken
