deego55 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 We have FMSA 8 set up one one server as a test server. We need to move the file into production, but leave the test server up. Is it best practice to use a different server, or is it common to host both files running on the same server? We only have one license for FMSA 8. I would assume that means we cannot install another copy of the software. Is it possible to install it on two different networks or is that a violation of licensing agreement?
Fenton Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I imagine running 2 copies is a violation of the license. If it isn't, what is? I'd recommend that you get your company to pay for a yearly subscription to the FileMaker Solutions Alliance. They now give you a "development" version of Server Advanced (3 users only I believe) at even the Subscriber level, as well as copy of FileMaker Pro and Mobile, and pre-release software. You also get access to FileMaker Talk, a members-only forum. At the Associate level you get a few more goodies, volume licensing, FileMaker Pro Advanced, and a web link. http://www.filemaker.com/developers/join_fsa.html compare levels: http://www.filemaker.com/developers/compare.html
