FM5 MySQL Sync

Halloo..

A client of ours has an FM5 database, and we have recently constructed a php/mysql order collection set up on another box.

Now of course, they want to have the 2 db's synced together daily..

I have been investigating using XML import/export with FM8.5, but then learned that the client has only fm5, and I do not currently have access to that system..

So, I was just wondering about which topics I need to learn to allow me to build an import/export syncing system..

I intend to run php scripts to dump the day's orders/processing into a ? csv/xml/?? file, which I will then either remotely point the FM to, or upload/import somehow..

whilst...

The other way, I feel moderately competent to write a script to export that day's FM orders to a file, that I can then parse with php and update the mySQL db..

Any broad or specific pointers/middleware anyone can point me to would be gratefully received
