Help with Filemaker Magazine' Infinate Assignments Technique

Featured Replies

I have incorporated Filemaker Magazine's technique for creating a dynamic value list into my database.

If you look at my file: www.jarrodprice.myhomeserver.com/sampledb.fp7

in the first layout called Web Interface, you can select from my dynamic value list which was built with the Categories_me table.

This technique appears to require that every field has a unique name. This does not make sense. Every field has its own id, but the way it is set up, it doesnt work.

To recreate the problem:

If you select bracelet > bangle > amethyst the database uses the first instance of the category name amethyst in the database, rather then the correct one.

I should think that the selection would stay within the hierarchy, but it doesnt.

I desperately need help to fix this.
