jessieleah Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Didn't think this was possible: Created a database and decided to set up logins with various priviledges. I left the Admin privledges as is and just added a password. No matter how I log in, I can't modify anything - all accounts including Admin act as read only in any view including Layout. Help! When looking at the list of logins created - the Admin login says full access. I am using FileMaker 8.5 Advanced running on a PowerBook G4 and we have FileMaker Server 8 running on a G5 Tower with Panther Server. The database I created is hosted by FileMaker Server and I have tried opening it via Open Remote and I have also removed the catabase from the server and brought it to my desktop and try an make changes. Nothing. Am I SOL?
Buggen Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 jessieleah, Check the permissions on the file in the Finder. If you copied the file from your client machine to the server most likely the permissions are not correct to allow changes. To do this click on the file in the Finder and select Get Info from the Finder menu. Next, make sure that under "Ownership & Permissions" that "Others" is set to Read & Write. That should fix your problem. Geoff
Steven H. Blackwell Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Actually if the file is being hosted, the group fmsadmin must have read and write access to the file. Steven
jessieleah Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 OK - I changed the permissions of the file to Gourp: fmsadmin with Read & Write permissions. I can use the logins and can make changes. I have a question - is this something that only occurs when employing Accounts & Privledges? Because I haven't had this kind of problem before. I haven't created a DB where I used A & P's before either. Whew! You guys are awesome. Thank YOU! Jessica
Steven H. Blackwell Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 This is an OS X (i.e. Unix) based issue, not a FileMaker Pro one. Steven
