Import problem from Excel from a beginner

I am a real estate appraiser using FM 7.0 to create a database of sales comparables. I have exported sales data from a third party source into an exel file. I check the excel file and all the data is there. However, I am having problem importing the data into my FM program. This is what i have tried and what happens.

1. I created the FM file for the data with the appropriate matching fields. When I try to import the excel file the dialogue box does not find any source fields.

2. If I simply try to open the excel file in FM it opens it but just creates an empty database with F1, F2, F3, etc across the top, even though I specified the first row field label option. The strange thing is that the opened database says that the records are there but there is no data in the rows or colums.

Any help regarding what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Byron.

I regularly import excel data into FM. I have found that it is more accurate if I name a range e.g. "Data" then import insuring that there are no empty fields within the range.

Also, make sure you set an auto enter serial number within FM and check box to make sure all data has a proper RecordID.
