Creating a portal w/multiple line textfields

Hi,

I'm creating something akin to a ticketing system and I want to create a new 'status' record everytime I update the status of this ticket.

So, the 'status' table contains the ticket ID, the date modified, and the text.

How can I make a portal on my 'ticket' page that shows *all* the text I typed in for each update, and not just one line?

I've followed examples for portals, and all I've seen are 'line items' where the data is only one line deep anyways, not a paragraph of data.

Am I coming at this the right way?

Hello,

Two immediate options come to mind. When setting up the portal, increase the depth [height] of the portal line to accommodate a text field that will display more than one line. Also you can format the text field to have a scroll bar in it, if needed.

I made the portal line longer (10 lines), and the first record shows its 3 lines. However, the second record starts on the second line of the portal (shaded line), and overwrites the first record.

Am I doing something wrong? Right now my portal has about 10 lines, and every other one is shaded, and it looks like it is trying to do put a single record on each line, and put a tiny scroll bar on each, no matter how much I drag my field down.

Pressed for time here and not absolutely sure what you mean. See this very rough example of what I mean.

Ok, I see how to do it now. I've made my portal 3 lines, but extended the depth, and then made my text field almost the same size as the *first* line.

Now I understand how it repeats, and the layout part is setting the behavior for the first line, which is then replicated.

Thanks!

Good. Even though I didn't have time for more detail to explain my answer.

I'm very much a 'novice' myself.
