Getting rid of the ODBC password box

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Ive got my hosted FileMaker database to connect to Word MailMerge using the ODBC functionality in FileMaker Pro 8.5.

Everytime Word connects to a FileMaker ODBC source, I get prompted with a username and password dialog. Can I change the connection string so that I can embed the username of the FileMaker client (I have over 200 users in the school).

The funny thing is, when you enter your username and password, it asks you to re-key the username and password again for the second time! The first time you enter the username and password in, it adds a UID field in the DSN.....

We also use Active Directory with FM External authentication (I have a group called fmsstaff), if we can use this to get rid of the password box, the teachers would absolutely love it.

...

Many Thanks for any advice as always.

I do not know anything about Word MailMerge but here's the connection string I use in my application.

Provider=MSDASQL.1;Persist Security Info=False;Data Source=YOUR_DSN;User Id=USER_NAME;Password=PASSWORD;

Hope this helps.
