Doug T
I have a customer that is using a single user version of FMP 8 on a network. When more than one user tries to access the same file he gets the error "...is currently in use and could not be opened. If the file is shared, you can use the Open Remote command to open the file on the network. Should he get FMP network version. Thanks, Dout T. Ender
FileMaker files should not be opened over the network through OS file sharing. This was a common cause of corruption in earlier version, and I think FM8 no longer allows this. If more than one client needs to access your files at a time, use FileMaker's built-in Sharing on a computer that's dedicated to this (no other services running). If more than 5 simultaneous connections are needed, you'll need FileMaker Server to host. In any case, each client copy will need a unique license code. Steven H. Blackwell
Ender is correct. Plus he ahs given you good advice. Do not use OS level file sharing to access FileMaker Pro files. Steven
