February 7, 200718 yr I have a hosted solution, and I was wondering if there was a way that I could prevent the same user account from being used at the same time by different people. Ideally, if a second person tries to access the database with an in-use account and password, that person would be kicked out. Anybody have any ideas?
February 7, 200718 yr If you are using External Server Authentication with Active Directory you can do this. I am not aware of any other way, although there could be one. Steven
February 23, 200718 yr this is relatively easy, in your opening script disable the account on login, then on your close database script re-enable the account on close. The account will be disabled while the use is logged in hence no-one can login in again with the same account. This also allows for user monitoring to ensure people are not logging out incorrectly or simply putting their machines to sleep etc etc. You could create if statements to bypass full access privileges accounts.
February 23, 200718 yr Interesting idea. Note that should you be disconnected from the server your Account remains deactivated and you will be unable to reconnect. This can be addressed by an Adminsrator. Steven
