FileMaker Server 7 closing database files

Featured Replies

I am running FM7 Server under Windows 2000 Server. This configuration has been working happily for well over 12 months.

In the last few days the server has been closing one of the files automatically (overnight). When I open again in the FileMaker Console it works fine. The users have no issue during the day but every morning I have to manually open this particular file??

I have a scheduled backup which runs each morning at 1am and this has been operating since installation. I checked the settings but can't see anything about opening/closing files.

I am hosting 4 files and this is only happening to on of them.

Can anyone help out? Thanks in advance.

Check the event.log file for any clues. Also, make sure you have updated to the latest rev of Server 7.

Thanks.

I opened Event Viewer but the entries uner Application Logs are blank (2961 entries all with no data??)

I have turned on logging in FM Console and will also run the 7.0v3 updater.

I'll get back to you once I've tested this.

Cheers.

Thanks - I ran the updater and still no luck.

The file doesn't appear to be corrupt but I will try and perform a recovery on it.

It worked! The solution now seems obvious - always the way.

I ran the updater but this didn't solve the problem (may have solved other problems I haven't yet found).

I then did a 'Save a Copy As' and selected 'compact copy (smaller). After replacing the new file and restarting the FM service it worked.
