Phone number type

I've read somewhere, thought it was here but I can't find it, where someone suggested that phone numbers have a related table to be able to pick type much like Address book in Mac. That way I can put in a number and tell the database what kind of number it is.

Anybody know the best way to do it, or where I saw that?
