Ronald_K Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Due to questionable performance of our server I want to update our Server 7v2 to 7v4. Clients are running FM pro 7v2 and unfortunately I can't update them to 7v3 (not a license issue, a technical one). The readme file on Server 7v4 says it only supports Pro v3. If the 7v2 clients are only be hosted and not changing the database why wouldn't server v4 host them? Ron
Vaughan Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Upgrade everybody to FMP 8.5 and the server FMS 8.0v4. No conversion necessary, but heaps better performance. Then you'll discover script variables and wonder how you ever did without them.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Try upgrading the Server to 7.0v3. But you should also upgrade the clients as well. Steven
xochi Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I'll second the vote to upgrade to 8v4 -- I found 7v2 and v3 to be buggy and crash/corruption prone. 8v4 is not perfect, but unless you work for $0/hour, the upgrade pays for itself very quickly.
Ronald_K Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 Thanks everyone, I don't think my IT department will spring for this (upgrading to 8) as our solution is only going to be used for about 7 more months. We are then switching to a professional software package. (we are a medical group). I will have to limp along and hope for the best! Ron
