end-of-file, FMWSC, IE and Java

Okay - I have gotten down to the root of my problem. Can someone tell me if/how I can fix it, please?

The problem of the unexpected end of file error seems to be due to a Java incompatibility. I found Win boxes on which identical versions of IE are running. The one using the java plugin 1.5.0_06 works; the one using 1.5.0_09 doesn't. Is there any way to update my servers to gain compatibility with the newer plug-in. I know nothing about how java works.
