Marc . Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Everyone, I'm quite proficient at Filemaker but I'm new to the world of VPN. What I've got (on a Mac) is FileMaker Server 8, a software-based VPN (VPN Tracker Server) running behind a hardware Firewall (Watchguard). On the Firewall, only IPSec ports are opened. There is NO specific rule for ports 5003 (TCP/UDP) because my assumption is that once I'm connected with the VPN, all the traffic will go through the IPSec tunnel. The result is that from the remote location I can "see" my hosted files (I had to add a "favorite server" for that) BUT, I cannot open them. When trying to open a file, FileMaker asks for my username/password (so it IS actually opening the file) but then nothing happens and my client application just stops responding. I'm wondering now if I still need to open some port on the firewall or what else might be wrong? Note that the described behaviour even happens on very small files. TIA for your time and insight. Marc
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Well this is a bit odd. Once on the inside of the LAN through the VPN you should be treated as if you were a node on the LAN. On the Server machine be sure that the local machine firewall isn't blocking Port 5003. Steven
