Fenton Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I have a client who makes acoustical panels. There are only a few sizes of the blanks used. What I need to do is to chop up a blank into pieces to get what their client ordered, then figure out what waste pieces would be left over. For example, a client orders 2-48x48" panels. These would come out of a 4x8 panel (which is actually 49x97). The waste would be 1-1x49" piece and 1-1x96" piece (I want to get the width first, as the scrap is more useful later). In this case the waste is unusable for anything else (but they still want to count its square footage). In other cases the waste piece might be assigned to another piece ordered. That part I can do, as it's relational mostly. I also have an idea how to chop up the panel. But I wonder if someone has an example of a script that I could look at for (better) ideas.
Raybaudi Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Hi Fenton I remember an old post about a similar thing... but I'have to search, wait a moment !
Fenton Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 Thanks for that. My problem is a little more complex, as the pieces could be different sizes; but this CF will help to check things as the script goes along.
