hello FM forum members,

i am a FM novice who has been given the task of linking my companies database to our production graphics server. i have set up according to all the user manuals, but need some guidance as to whether or not im on the right track.

here is what i have currently set up

-FM server advanced 8 running on dedicated win2000

-ODBC connections turned on and a user account set up for read only access to the file

-graphics server is on a seperate box running win2003 server

-DataDirect SequeLink Driver installed

-User DSN set up as per SequeLink instructions on the Data Source Administrator

when i do the test connection in the Data Source Administrator it is successful, however the graphic app returns an error

80004005 [Microsoft OLE DB Provider - Required User Name is missing]

so, if the test connection is working in the ODCB admin panel, is it more likely the SQL statement to be bad? does it have to pass the login details before it is allow enter. the graphics server support info says that it only needs the name of the data source (as per set up in the ODBC admin window) and it will do the rest (yes we have very limited support from the graphics people) but there is nowhere to store the user name and password anywhere (either in the ODBC admin panel or the graphics server). do i need a crash course in SQL to get past this?

hopefully that made sense and someone can help me out

cheers

chase
