I am fairly new to FMP, this is my first post. I have done a little bit of self taught work but am now undertaking my first large project.

I am building a "Project Tracking Database" and I need some help on relationship layout.

This database will track individual "Projects". When a project is created, the creator has a list of "Clients" to choose from that the project will work with. Each Client has "Regions" and under that "Areas" and then individual stores in each area.(A Client could have 3 Regions each with 4 Areas, and each area could have 10 Stores, for a total of 120 Stores.)

I have a "Client Manager" page where Clients can be added along with Region/Area/Store info. When I create a Project, I need to be able to select a Client and some or all of their sub-categories (Regions/Areas/Stores) that are to be shopped for this Project. The problem is, sometimes Stores may be closed for repair and I need to remove them from the Project but not from the Client List. So somehow I need to duplicate that Region/Area/Store information and put it in a new Project Table, and assign it a project number. And I need to be able to view and select which data to pull over when I create a Project.

I tried to explain this as best I can. If you have any ideas or questions, I would appreciate anything. Thanks for helping me learn!!

It sounds like you need to learn about "join" tables. You'll love 'em.
