hello, i am new here, so please excuse possible clumsiness.

Problem:

FMA 8.5 odbc connection does not even start up

when trying to start odbc sharing as an ordinary user or even admin on my mac i get

xdbc could not be initialized

when trying to do this as root, i do not get this error message, but can not connect to the database.

filemaker support has been working on this for several weeks now - alas no solution yet.

i would be grateful for help
