Strange Occurrence With Layout Menu

Whenever I navigate to anyone of the last 8 layouts in my solution using the layout menus I’m always taken to the last layout. I have 264 layouts. If I select any layout from 1 to 255 using the layout menus, works fine. If I select 256 or any layout beyond 255 I end up on the last layout (264) every time. It’s the same in browse or layout mode. Is this a normal limitation of the layout menu?
