When I try to remote open there are no host listed in dialog box and no files listed. When I open using my opener file everything works ok.

Hosting on FM server 8.0 on mac

owner fmserver read/write

group fmsadmin read/write

network filesharing - off

Network access to file - all users

dont display in open remote dialog box - unchecked

Any ideas

Use the FM Server Remote Admin Tool and check that the file is open.

Check that there are no other copies of the file on your local hard disk that are being opened accidentally.

Files can be set to be shared hidden. In the FileMaker Network Settings dialog, uncheck the "don't display on Open Remote File dialog" checkbox.

Go into the FileMaker Pro menu and select Sharing then FileMaker Network.

Thanks for your reply.

I check the file using the remote server admin tool.

File in normal and currently has 8 users.

I dont see anywhere it says file open.

I have no other copies on my hard drive or on the server hard drive.

I do have a copy another computer for a back up.

I have network sharing turned off, since the file is shared on the server.

Any other thoughts.

After posting I, for the fun of it, I tried opening a file remotely and the files were listed.

I swear they were not there the other day. It was not a dream and I have not been abducted by aliens.

Theme form twilight zone now playing

I will check this everyday to see if it changes.
