Resolved! Apparently something about the Server was corrupt. We are upgrading to Server 8.0, which should resolve the problem.

THANKS for taking the time to respond!

A complex report script runs fine on a Mac Server running Server 7.0 being accessed by a Mac running FMP 8.5.

This script stops working after modifications as follows:

Twice now, I have stopped service remotely via Timbuktu for Windows, ZIPPED and copied the files, made changes totally unrelated to this script or its layouts, saved, uploaded and restored the revisions to the original server. The script stops in the middle and ends up on an interim background layout.

HOWEVER, the script runs fine if the revised files are copied to a local hard drive and run locally, whether the platform is Windows or Mac.

Any clues about how to fix this problem will be appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I did close the files but I never stopped the service.

After closing, I copied the files to the Desktop, and then worked on them.

Then I copied them back onto the Server and Opened them again.

It makes sense that Service should be stopped...but when I re-load the backup after these failures, the Script works again, without ever stopping the Service.

So, can I simply stop and restart service? Or do I have to start all over by stopping service and starting over? I dread doing all this work again unless I'm reasonably certain it won't happen again. So, what are the odds that this is the problem?

Thanks for your help!
