Tabbing to next line in portal

Featured Replies

I have a number of different FM databases with portals. On some if you tab to the end of the line of a portal it will tab to the next line allowing you to create a new record in the portal. On others it ALWAYS tabs out of the portal at the end of the line. I want to always tab to the next line of the portal. How do I control this? Thanks.

Layout mode, Set Tab Order command. Check it and see what's happening.

Thanks for the reply. I had checked the Set Tab Order and from what I can see that's the cause of the problem. I fixed the problem by cutting the portal out of the layout, using Set Tab Order to set the remaining fields and then pasting the portal back into the layout. At that point it worked fine with the tabbing remaining inside the portal for as long as I wanted. But then just to experiment I duplicated the layout then used the Set Tab Order again and set the order for all fields inside and outside the portal. Once again the tabbing left the portal at the end of the first line and I couldn't reverse it except by once again cutting and re-pasting the portal. Pretty flaky behavior if you ask me but at least the cutting and re-pasting is an effective workaround.

I agree. That should not be happening.

Post a zipped clone of the file for us to take a look see.

Are you really using FMP 7? FMP 8.5 and 9.0 are so much better.
