problem with CWP and published databases list

Featured Replies

Hello-

Having some trouble with FileMaker Server 8 Advanced. I wanted to use CWP with FX.php to display some catalog and inventory database, but all my FX.php pages (including the samples) were getting "No action taken" errors. I made some discreet inquiries, and came to conclusion that my FX.php scripts are failing to see/find my databases.

As I investigated this issue, I discovered something stranger still. When I go to the web config for the WPE, and click on "Published Databases" under "FileMaker Server," nothing is shown. The menu header for the config interface is there, but there's no list of databases, not column headers.

Now you may think that I don't have WPE turned on, or connected to my server or some such. But IWP works perfectly.

So, I went to the FileMaker support, and found that there were some updates available for the server. I thought before I bothered anyone, I should install those. So I did. I downloaded and installed both the WPE update and the server update, bringing them both to version 8.0v4 I believe. Nothing much seemed to change except for this. When I went to the Published Databases page in the web config, it had changed to a completely blank page, rather than a blank page with the navigation header intact.

So now my question to you, FileMaker wizards of the world. What's wrong with my server, and how do I fix it?

One quick note: My FileMaker Server and Web Publishing Engine are running on the same server machine, inside our local network. Port 81 forwards to the outside world, and is the port I have IIS and the Web Publishing Engine configured to use. My FX.php scripts are running on a linux apache web hosting server offsite somewhere.

What are the Extended privileges in the files that you want to access via PHP? Did you set the fmphp privilege?

I have fmxml, and fmxslt enabled. As far as I know, there isn't an fmphp extended privelege. Is that something for use with the new FileMaker PHP API? I 'm using FX.php, which uses the fmxml extended privelege

I have the same problem with my WPE not showing the databases. However, my fx.php solutions work just fine, so these may be unrelated problems.

After a monumental effort, I managed to get both problems fixed. As far as FX.php, I was doing a multitude of things wrong. So I never really discovered for certain whether there was a connection.

The database list wasn't working, apparently because I had 3 NICs on my server, but only 1 in use. I disabled the others and it worked. I think I may have had to reinstall FileMaker Server and WPE as well. If you care about the database list in WPE, and you have some unused NICs on your server, you might look into this.
