Network Settings - changes to No Users

Featured Replies

I've a db with 45 data files (this was originally written in fm3, upgraded to fm5 then migrated to fm7)

Two of my files will have their "Network access to file" changed from All Users to No Users and then fall off the network. Closing the file, opening it in FM and resetting it to All Users and then re-opening in Server gets the file back online.

I can't figure out why this is happening. We did the migration to 7 weeks ago, and this problem is just showing up.

Thanks for any help.

This is a sign of a damaged file. Close all files on the Server. Stop the FMS service. Open the file in FMP (either 8.5 or 9). Save a compacted copy of it. This is under the FIle Menu-->Save As. Use the compressed copy instead of the original file.

[color:red]Do not recover the file.

Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately I tried this and my two data files open in an unmodifiable state. Is this the way an opened compressed file is suppose to work? If so, then that's not a solution I can use. Do you have any other suggestions.

Thanks again for the help!
