JFR Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Unclear on this: I'm setting up Filemaker Server 9 on Windows Server 2003, ONLY for access by filemaker clients over a WAN (ie no web-based access at all). In the server, if I want to use higher security by checking "Secure connections to FileMaker Server", do I need to purchase an SSL certificate? Or is the latter only necessary for web-based connections? Thanks in advance for any help! James Reed Soho Solutions
John May - Point In Space Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 No need to purchase an SSL certificate for FileMaker Network Sharing - just enable the checkbox and you're good to go. - John
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 You don't need an additional certificate for this. However be sure to restart FileMaker Server to place this option in effect. BTW, the encryption used is TripleDES with HMAC-SHA1 for integrity checking. Steven
