Remote connection over the web

I need to set up a remote connection over the web to a FileMaker Pro database (not Server). Is this possible out of the box or do I need a VPN connection? I do not have a dedicated IP address on my server, but I do have one on my router at the office.

You need to get the IP's sorted out, but yes you can remote control any filemaker solution via VNC or similar... but VPN'ing is an awesome idea, since whoever trying to do something malicious find such ...gefundenes fressen, obviously hoping it's a connection to a between someone transfering his visa-card's info, and a webshop.

VNC have absolutely no encryption, to offer.
