Here is my question. Is there a way where filemaker can make fields editable on 1 layout but when you switch to another layout the fields are not editable? What am I trying to do is have a list view of my records where the fields are not editable, however when a user clicks on a certain record from the list it will switch to the "form" layout and in this layout the user can edit field content.

In Layout Mode, try changing the field's behavior settings to not allow entry.
