append ctrl Z to grand summary string

I am new at this, and may be the answer is easy. I am trying to export a set of records separated by c/r, line feed, and the last record ends with (EOF)marker ctrl Z.I wonder if some one can help?

I am trying to export a set of record in a text format. This will be send via modem to a main frame. The required structure is flat file fixed length field text with no delimiters except carriage return, line feed after each record, and ctrl Z at the end of file.

I do not know how to append the character Ctrl Z to the last record,and I do not know if any one could recommend a text editor that can show me this invisible characters?
