October 8, 200718 yr I have just had a client inform me that they have been using FileMaker preferences: Enlarge window contents to improve readability; I only now understand the underlying layout issues re inconsistencies I have been chasing from 'feedback'... Developing on a mac, and testing under parallel; FM 8.5Adv. All layouts (except pop windows) had been structured to be a uniform size, and I had written scripting to force the same height on table view layouts, and sizes were adjusted for the vertical real estate losses in windoze title and menu bars etc. Never having noticed this windoze 'versatility' before, my initial tests show that after designing uniformly sized layouts and field arrangements etc, there is now: - exaggerated spacing that would not be there in a larger layout (if that was what had been asked for to start with...), - that pop windows designed to fit, now roll off screen etc. - icon clarity suffer from enlargement I will be strongly encouraging the client to cease and desist, but would like to be aware of other implications, beyond my initial testing impressions. Is there a short list of deviations induced by this windows option?
