Newbies sylbam Posted October 18, 2007 Newbies Share Posted October 18, 2007 Fairly inexperienced FileMaker user, looking for a little help. I have a database of information about paintings and I'd like to add a button that when clicked will open the Photoshop file of that painting -- located elsewhere on my computer. Any suggestions? Fenton
If you Insert Picture [x] As reference only, then you can use AppleScript to open the path to the picture. ContainerPath_fmforums.zip
Fenton
If you have FileMaker 7+ you can open the picture's file with FileMaker. You have the picture's filepath, in the referenced image path. All you have to do is swap the prefix ("imagemac:/" or "imagewin:/" or just "image:", with a "file" prefix; "filemac:/", "filewin:/" or just "file:"). Then you can open the file by either double-clicking the field (which now looks like any other alias or shortcut), or with a script step that goes to the field, with "Select/perform".
