sudharsan Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Hi, I am currently working on Instant web publishing on FIlemaker 7 client and Filemaker 7 advanced server. The Operating system used is Tiger. I am having problems with the IWP. I hosted the file on the server and is working fine. For IWP I followed the following steps: 1. In the server (Filemaker Server Admin) changed the status of the the corresponding served database to "closed". 2. Went to the corresponding directory where the database file is present and opened it using Filemaker Pro 7. 3. While opening it gave me message before opening "FileMaker cannot share files because another user is already sharing files using FileMaker Pro on this computer" 4. After opening the file I tried enabling the IWP using : FileMaker Pro -> Sharing -> Instant Web Publishing" 5. When I tried changing the Instant Web Publishing option from "off" to "on" it gave me a message "FileMaker cannot share files over the Web because Instant Web Publishing could not be started" and it didn't allow me to change it to "on" I have set the "fmiwp" bit in the extended privileges attached to the accounts accessing the file for the database used. The server is FileMAker Advanced 7. The webserver is also running(Apache 1.3) However I am not sure about what ID and Passcode to be set for the Web Publishing Engine. I set it as the server login account passcode and ID. Regarding the "FileMaker advanced Web Publishing Administration Console" I also have a problem. I initially opened it using the regular account and password and once I got in, I set the IWP to be turned on. I then changed the password. Though I am pretty much sure about the new password which I gave the console didn't let me in when I tried logging in once again. So I am struck here. Can anyone please help me solve these problems: 1.setting up the IWP from the server and 2.resetting the password for the Web Publishing Administration console. Thanks, Sudharsan
Steven H. Blackwell Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 It is not necessary to set the IWP sharing in FileMaker Pro when the file is hosted by FIleMaker Server Advanced. As you discovered, it doesn't work that way. Simply set the fmiwp bit in the Extended Privileges for all the Privilege Sets that you want to give IWP access. Regarding the Console, you may have a corrupted passcode and ID. On OS X, the easiest solution is a reinstall of just the WPE, unless you are very familiar with the Library. Steven
