ODBC SetUp but no data Arrives

Featured Replies

I have my ODBC connection to Mysql setup fine but every time I launch Filemaker and open my FM file there is no data in it.

I was expecting that once it was setup and working that the connection would be 'live' to MySQL but the only way I can get data in for editing is to File-Import it?!

I can then edit the data in FMPro and it updates MySQL Live, BUT, once I close FMPro I loose the whole data in FMPro (it's OK in MySQL)

What am I doing wrong?

I have used the Actual ODBC DEMO version here:

I read this recently (which refernced an FM resource)

limitaions of ESS dta in FMP

1. Data Set

No data-broadcasting of ESS datasources...just "periodic refreshes" which can result in inconsistent data. Reference: Pg 24

"FileMaker Pro 9 periodically refreshes its view of SQL data, but there are times when the data visible in FileMaker Pro may be out of step with the most current SQL data."

I have also had the ESS TOC's drop their assignments numerous times, despite the manage ess settings being ok.

The other thing I have noticed when this happens, is to resync the shadow tables, I normally get a 'there is no primary key' message even though that same message has the primary key field clearly checked.

I do not yet trust this implementation.
