December 10, 200718 yr Author Sorry for the delay in answering.....I still can't find the password. We are using FMSA 8.0v4.....any help would be appreciated. Donna Edited December 10, 200718 yr by Guest
December 10, 200718 yr OK, it looks as if you're using Macintosh OS on your server? This is another of those things relatively easy to do in Windows Server 2003, but fiendishly complex in OS X. It involves changing the prefs located in: Library/FileMaker Server/Library/preferences/ByHost To do this requires root access and knowing how to change permissions several times on a series of folders. My recommendation is that it will be easier and faster to close all files, stop all services, including the web services, remove the database files to a safe location, remove Server 8 Advanced, and then reinstall it. If you do not want to do this, let me know and we can go thru the other exercise. Steven
December 11, 200718 yr Author Well, since I couldn't find the password, I reinstalled the Web Publishing Engine and the Console today. Everything seems to be working now. Thanks for the advice -- and yes, I've written the password down. :laugh2:
March 17, 200817 yr Newbies I am running Server 8v4 and need to reset the FMSA web publishing password on a Windows 2003 server, can you help me do this without reloading everything?
March 17, 200817 yr This can be done by deleting several files from deep in the directory structure. The result will be that the WPE will be back to its initial default state. You'll have to set all the WPE configurations up again. Do you want to do that? Steven
March 18, 200817 yr Newbies It's either that or wipe out everything from the server and start over from scratch, so yes that is fine with me. I need to regain control of the WPE.
March 18, 200817 yr [color:red]First thing, close all the files, and then stop all 4 services plus the web seerver (IIS). Navigate as follows: C:Program FilesFileMakerFileMaker Server 8Web PublishingConf Then delete the following files. That's correct, delete them: cwpe.mcc config_properties.xml wpc.prefs Reboot the machine. Restart FileMaker Server Advanced. And restart IIS. The result of this is that you're back to ground 0 as if the Server Advanced features had never been set up. So you'll have to go through that exercise again. Steven
