On my estimate/invoice page that list all past and current estimates, the company name 2 line get cut off -- curious how I fix that?

Also, on this page, it's sorting by invoice number. I changed it to sort by date, but that wont stick.

I've examined this is layout view, and there does not seem to be a lot of flexibitly or room to move any fields there.

(I'm a bit novice) thanks!

Yes, this lack of space becomes a *major* problem... and there is no magic way of solving it.

Regarding your company name cutoff problem, you'll probably need to make the field bigger. That in turn might mean making some other fields smaller to make room.

Sometimes there just isn't room on a layout. If that's the case, one option is to change the text formatting to compressed, or to make the font smaller (I prefer compressing the text before reducing size). No, it doesn't always look good but sometimes it's the only option.

thanks Vaughn:

this lack of space: isn't just because of the way whoever designed this particular software did it, or is some kind of issue with Filemaker?

Yeah, would not know how to adjust those fields. the text already seems small. If you want to give this a crack , and are proficient, I would e mail it to you, if you send me address. thanks!

In my experience it's because people want to put *everything* on a single page. B)

If you post your file to the Forums (zipped, with all valuable and confidential data removed, etc) I'm sure somebody will have a crack at it.
