Hi there!

I run FM Server 8 off of a server with Windows Server 2003 as the OS. All the client computers are running FM 8 off of WinXP.

I recently had some issues with our Linksys router (basically it destroyed itself during an attempted firmware upgrade) and after I got through with their tech support, we had to force the router to change its IP.

I used to log into the FM Server Admin tool in order to tweak/close our database whenever I needed to back it up. Now, even though I have changed the IP on the login screen to the server's new, current IP, the login tool repeatedly tells me "Login Failed".

I have confirmed via my network connection that that IS the server's proper IP address.

As a note, when I change the IP address by one number, for example, it gives me a different error message that says "Could Not Connect to FileMaker Server".

I have also logged into my router's admin panel and looked at the DHCP Clients table, but I cannot access the Admin tool via the IP it lists for my server there, either.

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue so I can again log into the FM Server Admin tool?

Thank you!

The preferences of your SAT Tool may have become corrupted. This happened quite a bit in Server 7, much less so in Server 8.

If you are very comfortable, and I mean very comfortable in the Windows Registry, stop all the FileMaker services from the Services control panel. Then delete the fmauth Registry key and reboot. But be sure you know what you're doing here.

If in doubt, stop all the services from the control panel, and then reinstall FIleMaker Server.

[color:red]This process is only for Server 7 and Server 8, and not for Server 9.
