Tony25 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 (edited) Sometimes I feel like someone else is taking over my database? (FM9 Windows). How do others stop activity when it is no longer needed. For example, if I use a summary field to get a total FM will keep updating this afterwards in case I need it again. This means that I keep seeing the dreaded hourglass. In FM6 I dealt with this by adding a Close File script step to force it to stop, but this I must not be the first with this problem? Thanks for a response. Tony. Edited January 2, 2008 by Guest
Søren Dyhr Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Summary fields only needs to get shown in special layouts for subsummary fields, the difference from a spreadsheet is that you usually run a script to get summarized data shown. If however beyond vanity the data is crucial to show each time a new record is shown, must it be made by a lookup next lower, but there is price to pay. If a record isn't in the sequence any more isn't the summary updated accordingly. --sd
