I use Send Event to launch a file conversion utility. Currently, I'm looping in the script waiting for a Done.txt indicator file to exist (i.e., wait for file to import without error). Here in the year 2008, this seems to be a rather primitive way of communicating with external processes.

Genx, thanks for the straight answer. I figured as much, but thought I would ask. It would seem FileMaker has spent much effort on becoming interactive with the Internet, while remaining somewhat isolated from the PC environment, itself. Oh well, maybe in 2009!
