Change a field's behavior by script?

Featured Replies

Here's a toughy: Is there a way of changing the behavior of a field via a script? My goal is to prevent a user from changing a field's contents--that's inside a portal--when the record is scripted to "lock." Because of the structure of the runtime, going the Permissions and Privileges route isn't an option.

The nominal way to change the behavior of a field is to go into Layout mode, select the field, go to Field Control-> Behavior-> then uncheck the Browse and Find mode permissions in the windoid. If I could do that, via a script while in Browse mode, then I'd be one happy camper.

TIA for your help!

Rich

Not that it answers your demand to be able to script the matter directly, is although the flipping of state could be scripted, whould you investigate this:
